FRIENDLY GUITAR LESSONS. (NO STRINGS ATTACHED).
When it comes to learning, every student has different goals and learning speeds. My goal is to find out what you want from guitar lessons. From there, I’ll design a program with you, specific for you!
Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate player or a former pro shredder looking to pick up the guitar again, I’m here to help you achieve your goals and make sure we have lots of fun along the way.
LESSON DETAILS
Topics covered:
Sight-reading, tab reading, technique, music theory and more. Lessons range from teaching chords to improvisation to advanced subjects. Just ask!
Lessons per month:
Each student gets 4 to 5 lessons a month, depending on the month.
Average lesson time:
30 minutes (can go longer upon request)
Typical agenda:
1. Set up equipment (I arrive 5 minutes early for this)
2. Tune up and touch base
3. Go over homework
4. Q&A
5. Topic recap or progression — If my student’s ready to move forward, we begin learning the next topic. If not, we focus on what we can do to help the student improve, be it a new suggestion, technique or by simply spending more time on the topic.
6. Close shop (unless I’m invited to stay for dinner)
Genres:
All musical genres (tailored to students’ tastes). I’ve taught “Mary Had a Little Lamb” and “Enter Sandman” to two different students in the same day.
Books:
I try not to follow books exactly. Though they have their place, I’ve yet to find one that is very precise or exciting yet (at least for my students).
Children:
For my younger students, it’s my goal to keep them engaged through inspiring, entertaining instruction. It’s all about capturing a child’s interest, and teaching them in an upbeat, non-intimidating way that says, “You can do this!”. Kids get a fun, varied lesson and parents get a great investment.
Pricing:
$75 for the first month (introductory price);
$105/month after that
